Logos Gaias is an international project being conducted by 16 partners from 7 countries. The object of the project is to develop and evaluate: a language learning package embedded in occupational/professional contexts based on the modelling of the technical languages and terminology the target groups require to communicate in work settings, a multilingual terminology and knowledge database, the flexible applications of Gymn@zilla, a browser-like, open source programme, the potential of Telos Language partner (TLP Pro) and of the internet forums FAS factline for use in language learning and teaching incorporating multimedia/Internet.
The contents are geared to the occupational/technical communication requirements in the fields of ecology, conservation, tourism and cultural landscape management. The intent is to help learners develop skills relevant to their occupations and speciality fields. There is a special combination here of instruction, multimedia self-learning (offline and online) and teletutoring in e-learning groups with discussion forums and chatforums. Project Goals - To acquire technical/professional language competencies in interdisciplinary occupational contexts.
